Sofia Curtis never intended to become a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI). As the daughter of an ambitious
police captain, Sofia wanted to follow in her mothers footsteps, but just as she qualified for her "Shield" the sherif pulled
her papers and volunteered her to the CSI unit. Sofias attention to detail made her a natural at forensics work, and she quickly
caught the attention of Conrad Ecklie, the days supervisor. Sofia was seen to be upset when she was overlooked for promotion
and, instead, was transfered to work for Gil Grissom on the Nightshift. Her dedication and insight quickly gained her the
respect of her new colleagues.
Sofias style caught Grissoms attention when he noticed that she talked to herself as she processed evidence
to help her remember the details later on.
Sofia often found herself at odds with Sara Sidle after being transfered to the nightshift. Sofias relationship
with grissom in which the pair were seen to have grown close and to confide in eachother in rough times, accentuated Sara's
growing sense of isolation, which resulted in tension between the 2 woman.
In season 5 ecklie assigned sofia to oversee an internal investigation when grissom noticed a new fingerprint
on 5 year old evidence from a homacide case. Sofia agrivated Ecklie by telling him that Grissom hadn't violated any
procedures when handling the evidence, and had followed lab protocol perfectly. The Newly apointed ADA of the lab felt betrayed
when Sofia supported Gil's methods as a supervisor. Ecklie imediatly demoted Sofia from her postition as acting supervisor
of the dayshift and seperated the beloved nightshift team by promoting Catherine Willows to Head of Swingshift and assigning
Warrick and Nick as her Staff. Sophia was moved to work for the New nightshift team along side. Grissom,Sara and Greg.
After years as a CSI, Sofia returned to her origonal dream of becoming a detective and traded in the rubber
gloved for her Detective shield. Not long after taking the new position Sofia along with Jim Brass and Several other
officers, was caught in a shootout in which a fellow officer was killed by 'Friendly Fire'. Sofia turned to Grissom for advice
and support in her fears that it was her gun that made the fatal shot.
Relief was bittersweet when evidence went on to prove the bullet came from Brass's gun instead.
In season 6, Sofia broke protocol by processing a phone booth herself, even though she wasnt actually a
CSI at the time.
Her first appearance on the show was in the season 5 episode Formalities.
